What this place is for
Real questions, real builds, and real experience with shops, parts, and trails. If a post helps somebody decide, find, or fix something, it belongs here.
Post like the next person is searching for it
Include the vehicle, the modifications, and what you already tried. Say what it cost if you are willing. A year from now the person who needs this thread will not be able to ask you a follow-up question, and the first post is all they will have.
Disagree with the argument
Say the thing that is wrong and why. Do not go after the person who said it. Sarcasm reads as contempt in text more often than the writer intends.
Talking about a shop by name
Name shops, in either direction. A candid account of what a shop did on your rig is some of the most useful writing on this forum.
Keep it to what happened to you: what you asked for, what you were quoted, what you paid, what you got back, and when. That account stands, however unflattering it is to the shop.
What does not stand is an accusation you cannot back up from your own experience: calling a business a scam, a fraud, or a thief as a matter of fact, or repeating what you heard about them. Posts like that are hidden while a moderator reads them, and you will be asked to rewrite the post as what happened to you.
The shop is welcome to answer in the same thread. That is usually the most useful reply the thread gets.
Shops and self-promotion
Shop owners are welcome here and the community is better for it. Answer questions in your area of expertise, post the work you are proud of, and say when a job is outside what you do.
What does not work: dropping a link and leaving, posting the same message across categories, price lists, and sales posts. Your listing in the directory is where your marketing lives. If you are answering a question and your own shop is a relevant answer, say that it is yours in the same post.
Do not start a thread about your own shop. If someone else starts one, reply in it.
Buying and selling
No classifieds for now. Asking what to buy is welcome. Offering something for sale is not.
Reviews and forum posts are different things
A review is attached to a business’s reputation, so every review on the directory is read by a person before it publishes. Forum posts publish immediately, because a conversation that waits for approval is not a conversation.
That difference is deliberate, and it cuts both ways. Do not use a thread to relitigate a review, and do not use a review to continue a thread. A thread is never counted as a review, and nothing said here appears on a shop’s listing. If you want your experience to count toward a shop’s rating, write a review on the directory.
Not allowed, plainly
- Personal attacks, harassment, or slurs
- Posting anyone’s private information, including a shop employee’s
- Spam, affiliate links, and undisclosed paid promotion
- Anything illegal, and instructions for defeating emissions equipment
- Impersonating a shop, a brand, or another member
How moderation works
Flag it rather than argue with it. Flags go to ModShops staff, and a person reads every one. A post that collects enough flags can be hidden while it is reviewed, and it comes back if it did not break the rules.
We edit rarely and say so when we do. When we remove a post, we tell you which rule it broke. Repeated or deliberate breaches end in a suspension; the first one is usually a conversation.
Disagree with a decision? Reply to the moderator message, or contact us if it needs to be off the forum. Where we can, someone other than the moderator who acted will look at it.

The Terms of Use and Privacy Notice that govern ModShops USA govern this forum too. What you post here is public and stays public — write accordingly. You keep ownership of what you write and grant us the licence described in the Terms to display it.
